Must sleep for weekend post

I'm super tired, but I've been wanting to post for days now and haven't had time. This may be less lucid and well-punctuated than usual.

This week, I've got a second cousin from Kentucky visiting Portland on a business conference, and I've been hanging out with her. This is the first time I've met her. I know almost none of my father's side of the family. She's really nice, and it's good to get to know the other side of the family. They're so very white! And we share some genetic makeup!!!!

I'm headed up to Washington to spend the weekend in a cabin with Nathan, Flint, and Stephanie. Plus Dylan and Max. It is going to be a blast and I'm super excited.

We got a new kid in at work this week, and business seems to be booming for the most part. I was informed that I'm being repurposed...shunted sideways into another position in the next few weeks. This is mostly a fantastic thing, because I'm going to love learning how to do the new work, even though it's going to be hard. I think it'll be right up my alley. The only sucky part is that I feel like this is happening because I didn't do well in the section I've been working in. The kid they hired has a degree in marketing and he'll be taking over most of that section. Great, right? Especially since I'm not a big fan of marketing and its principles? Well in a non-psychotic female world, yes...it's great. However, my mind says I'm being moved because I'm not good enough, not smart enough, and doggonit, people don't like me. But I also have been blessed with enough practicality to just dismiss those feelings for the most part. I'm really excited about the switch. The business is growing quickly now...if the economy manages to not crash, I think we're going to take off. The company's launching a nationwide publicity campaign soon. I can't wait to see the effects.

We make office space jokes there constantly. My favorite thing is to threaten to set the building on fire and take our server to a secluded field.
