If I could, for just one day, rid my life of the scourge that has been brought on by mind-altering substances, it would be the best day of my life.
I can't describe the profound effect that other people's drug use has had on my life. And I've had incredibly little exposure compared to most people I know. No one has ever seemed to be able to wrap their minds around the harsh reality of how drugs affect their users and the people in those users' lives. Not like I can.
This disease is insidious. The only thing that I can think of that comes close to the pervasive tendencies of drug use is AIDS.
I think Ian McKaye is my new hero:
I'm a person just like you
But I've got better things to do
Than sit around and fuck my head
Hang out with the living dead
I'm off to buy some sharpies.

I hope that everything is ok. I have seen drugs (and experienced it first hand) and drug addiction and what it does to people. The harder the drug, the harder they fall. You tube has some very good vids about junkies. Not like you want to depress yourself like that but if anyone ever thinks about doing them just make them watch these vids. When I was in my own stupor in 96 and all the "cool kids" were doing heroin all it took was watching them do it to totally make me run! No matter how cool some people may make it (and other drugs) seem there is always a downside that isnt worth it.
