Rose City Rollers

This evening, a neighbor took me to see her sister race in the roller derby. It's the first roller derby I've ever seen and I have to say, I'm impressed. I wrote a plan for roller derby last fall, so I have to say I was pretty prepared for the event. I already had a handle on the rules and the culture, so there was no learning curve involved. Not like it's a complicated sport anyway. It was really fun and entertaining. I have to say that I have no desire to be in a roller derby at all. I'm way too big of a sissy. The one thing that was surprising about the event was the music. I guess since the roller derby kind of has a tattoos and rockabilly theme going, I thought it was going to be sort of a punk rock event. It wasn't. It was metal all the way. The night's music included AC/DC, Poison, Van Halen, Danzig and a whole host of other crap. I think I'm going to have to apply for the roller derby DJ gig. Things clearly need to be turned around. In honor of the occasion, I've decided to compile a list of my top 5 metal songs ever written. Here they are:

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

In other news, today I decided to put a post on craigslist's gigs section for a computer programmer that wanted to put up with an "ideas person" with no capital and a lot of pipe dreams. I titled the ad "I'm a programmer's worst nightmare." To my immense surprise, I have about 5 responses from programmers chomping at the bit to tackle any challenge I send them. They sound talented and they all pretty much want to work in exactly the way I want to work. It's very strange. I'm going to have to write all my ideas down in order to fully capitalize on this phenomenon. So if you've ever thought to yourself, "I wish there was a website that..." put a comment on here describing what you want and I'll make that happen.

My gf is a Roller Girl (First on the left, mid row). It's like a part time job for her. Those girls train a ton.

Roller derbies, roller rinks and strip clubs are in desperate need of good Djs. Oh yeah and weddings are too.

I can be a human CD switcher!!!

Burn down the disco,
Hang the blessed dj
Because the music that they constantly play says nothing to me about my life
Hang the blessed dj!
Because the music they constantly play on the leeds side-streets that you slip down
Or provincial towns you jog 'round
Hang the dj, hang the dj, hang the dj!
Hang the dj, hang the dj, hang the dj!
Hang the dj, hang the dj, hang the dj!
Hang the dj, hang the dj!
Hang the dj, hang the dj!
Hang the dj, hang the dj, hang the dj!
Hang the dj, hang the dj!
Hang the dj, hang the dj!
Hang the dj, hang the dj, hang the dj!
Hang the dj, hang the dj!
Hang the dj, hang the dj!
Hang the dj, hang the dj!

Karaoke Apocalypse plays at all the shows for Sabine's derby.

Karaoke with a live band! Some of the performances are pretty awesome.
