a little salmonella never killed anyone

today i started a part-time internship at a local artisan bakery. i don't want to go into the whole "where when why how" of my plans because i don't really have that information. this is just a temporary fill, i assume. it was a lot of fun though. there was a really warm and accepting atmosphere at this bakery, and the work was fun to do, even though the other intern and i messed up on both the recipes we worked on. the first mistake wasn't my fault at all, and the second mistake was totally my fault, but both mistakes were fixable.
people who work in bakeries eat dough. it's not just a bad habit i picked up when i was little and america wasn't terrified of salmonella. i got to eat some chocolate espresso batter and some lemon cookie batter. both were excellent. plus, there was free coffee and lunch. and i get to go back tomorrow.
the main reason i probably won't take a job there if it's offered to me is that bakers don't make much money at all. i have a bare minimum figure that i have to make, and at the rate bakers get paid, i wouldn't earn enough without overtime. i have no problem working overtime, but most employers do. so we'll see what comes of this. if nothing else, i had an experience i've always wanted that not everyone gets to have, and maybe i'll learn something i can use in my own kitchen.

It will be good xperience for when you open a coffee shop. Pastries/breads always go well with coffee (devil sweat) and tea. Plus learning something new is a nice time user till you find something that you really want to do.
