good shows

we saw the unseen tonight for the fourth time in 9 months, and they put on a great show as always. not their best show, because there was an asshole in the crowd instigating things, but they still were great, despite the trouble. it was awesome to see the lead singer jump into the crowd to beat somebody up (who deserved it). see nathan's blog for a much more humorous and detailed account. what i will say about the violence is this: A) i learned when teaching school that if a child does something bad, and you give an ultimatum, you have to back it up just exactly as you said you would, or the trouble won't stop. so, when mark said "spit on me one more time and i'll kick you in the face" and then he promptly got spit on, that was the moment for action. giving that asshole another chance, although well intentioned, did not work out. and B) while nathan disagrees with me, if that club had adequate security, there wouldn't have been a problem. the band should never have to defend themselves at a show. any other time, sure, but doing their job, they should not have to fight.
it's 11:30 and i have to leave home at 4:30, so i'm going to bed. having a job sucks.
