kids are dangerous

i'm only recovering from this incident enough to blog about it now...
last sunday, beth, jaiden and julian were over here for dinner. late in the evening, jaiden was playing in the living room while we were watching tv and he picked up my keys, ran over to the electrical outlet, unplugged the charger that was in there and was a centimeter from sticking the key in the outlet before i could run over there and stop him. his mom was telling him to stop, and she had the baby in her arms and i was telling him to stop but when i saw him reach to unplug the charger, i just leaped across the room, screaming bloody murder and bodily yanked him away while snatching the keyes out of his hands. it scared him so badly, but it was better than him getting a bad shock or even dying. i'm still really not ok about it. i was so scared by it.
my house is not safe for kids. i don't have things like outlet covers and cabinet locks. i don't need them because max and girlkat don't have opposable thumbs. he gets into things all the time over here because i never know what he's going to go for. i try to clean up before he gets here enough to make it baby safe, but it seems like there's always something i overlooked. i just can never anticipate what a baby is going to do.
it's so much easier to keep dogs and cats safe!
