murphys and casualties

i'm in boston for a few more days. so much has gone on, but i'll try to not mention the small stuff.
i almost ruined our trip by forgetting the concert tickets. nathan asked me if i remembered them when we were in line to board the plane. everything turned out all right in the end. nathan saves the day yet again.
we got to see the murphys and the casualties, but we missed brain failure because we were still at dinner. who would have thought the show would start on time? but that's also ok because brain failure is playing tonight at a club around the block from christina's apartment where we're staying.
i have to say that the casualties show lived up to my expectations. if you all remember, i wanted to see them last summer at the warped tour, but didn't get to. they put on a great show on sunday. i was really suprised though at the boston punks. for all the talking up the murphys do about them, they're really not any cooler than the virginia punks. there's just a few more of them. and this club, the avalon, wouldn't let me wear my jacket because of the studs and safety pins. they have no business letting punks play their venue. they should stick to whatever they normally do.
at first, the audience was really pissing me off, because i couldn't get down to the floor and the people on the slightly higher section were behaving like they were at a dashboard confessional show. nathan finally helped me beat my way down to the floor and then everything was alright.
highlights from the murphys show: they covered one of my favorite clash songs, "guns of brixton". this kid tried to stage dive onto a bunch of little girls and they let him hit bottom. i have to include that they played some really horrible covers and played sports footage on the screen which made them fall down the cool ladder a few steps, but i always knew they were less punk than they could be. i got to talk to the bassist from the casualties who threw in some stickers when i got my shirts. i think i'll put them on our vehicles. it just depends, though, because my mom scrapes stickers off if she sees them.
the rest of the time we've been here, we've gone through the museum (which we're doing again today) we went on an architectural tour of the boston public library which was fantastic, we went to the mit museum (also fun), we walked around outside harvard and got ice cream, we took a lot of pictures of boston which will be posted later, and most importantly to me, we rode public transportation everywhere and it's been so great. i wish i lived somewhere that had it, and i intend to find that place this summer. we don't know where we'll end up, but any city that has any viable form of rail transport automatically gets extra points to start.
