first of all, the field trip...
we took them to the virginia air and space museum in newport news. it is not set up for hoodlums, but i was surprised at how smart some of these kids are. in fact, most of them are smart, good kids, but the ones who aren't are bad enough to tear things up.
after the trip, i had them in my classroom for an hour, and it was so bad that when i came home, nathan found me hiding under the covers.
then we had poker night, and i won 15 dollars in a heads-up match between me and donny rodgers. no one won, we quit after nathan said time's up. and nathan lost 20 dollars, so we're really down 5 bucks.
today, i told my fellow teachers that i screwed up and wouldn't be able to give them my end of our progress reports on time, which means that i have a crap-ton to finish tonight (and it's quarter after 11 now) and tomorrow morning, everyone's going to have to scramble to take up my slack.
i also called several parents to tell them how bad their kids are. i told one parent that her child refused to relinquish a sharp object, i told one parent her kid was a slut, i told one parent that her (black) child was running around calling everyone "black monkeys", i held one kid by his backpack as though it were a leash to walk him to his classes and i sat in on a really fun parent-teacher conference. my favorite bit was when the parent told the boy that he was getting too big to beat with a belt and she'd have to step it up to beating him like one beats a grown man.
i cackled. so did all the other teachers who were present. he cried.
this mother has three children, is in college, and IS YOUNGER THAN ME. she had this boy when she was 15 and he's 9 or 10, putting her at 1 or 2 years younger than me.
tony and cheryl got a very good offer on their house today and will accept it. one house sold, one to go. i hope everything goes smoothly. it should as this is a cash buyer. i'm really happy about it.
missy and i took the dogs to the park while chance cooked. we ate and i graded papers.
speaking of which, i have progress reports to get back to.
goodnight...
