not much today

only two mildly interesting things happened today, so i'll keep this short. or else, i'll babble on about random stuff.
first thing was as follows:
remember that fight yesterday? well, one of the boys' parents came to talk to me about it. i told them the whole story and what i intended to do about it (which was reassign seats). they were talking to me as the boys were switching into my class, so i told the boys to not sit down because they were getting new seats anyway. i shut the door expecting the parents to leave and proceeded to assign new seats. the boys started shouting at the door, so i look over and the parents are still there pointing at the boys. so i go to the door with the intention of telling them to shove off so i could run my classroom, and a screaming match ensued between boys and parents. it was grotesque. i need to report it to the principal.
i need resources about being a white teacher in a black classroom and how to deal with classroom management.
the other thing was a required trip at the end of the day to a tech seminar at another school. i drive through portsmouth, make one turn, and end up in a different universe. it was incredible. the change was indescribable. the school in this neighborhood was completely different from the one i'm at. it made me long for better days.
this next part is for biff.
biff, i keep trying to add comments on your blog, but it doesn't work. i'm sorry. so from now on, i'll respond on mine. my response for today is this: when i build my own city, you won't have to worry about bastards anymore. and i'm sorry you go through so much crap for something you should have no problem doing. if it were up to me, personal-use automobiles would be outlawed.
i also wanted to amend my plans for my lottery winnings. i would also start an orphanage. not really an orphanage, i would adopt a kid probably every year (after i had my own 2 or 3) and raise them with all the resources they need. i would have my own large house in my city that would be set up with everything kids need, and hire tutors and nannies. i wouldn't adopt many american kids. mostly kids from poor countries, or black american kids. i would prove something by doing this, but i don't know what. in the end, it would probably only prove that money solves everything, but that's not really what i'm going for here.

I'm sure Nate goes through much of the same crap.

I just changed the way comments are left on my blog. Give it another try.
