I am victorious!

Today I rode my bicycle to and from work. I suffered, but I did it, and I did not resort to public transportation at any time. I almost did twice, but I toughed it out (even though I forgot water on the way to work) and made it. My butt is sore, and my elbows and one knee hurt. I calculate that I probably felt threatened by other cars, pedestrians, and cyclists at least twice per mile travelled. Only once, at the end, would it have been my fault, but that one was highly lacking in its chance of severity. As nearly as I can calculate, the route I took today is 8.2 miles, with what are to me pretty serious uphill segments both ways, and more downhill parts on the way there. The whole trip probably took me a little over an hour each way (due mainly to my lollygagging), but it would have taken Biff probably about twenty minutes, so I'm sure I'll get faster with practice. And I might resort to taking the train on one particularly treacherous climb in the future until my heart, lungs, and legs are strong enough to do it without stopping for breathing breaks. Also, the ride kind of gave me a headache in the morning which lasted all day (partly due to stress at work) and only left when I started riding again.

I won't ride tomorrow, but it's for several other reasons that I don't feel like going into. The point of the story is that I did it, I'm alive, and the sense of accomplishment feels great.

yeah, that's what I'm going for, since it's definitely faster than taking the bus.
