Clerks II

I have to say I loved it. But I love most of Kevin Smith's work, and the original Clerks wasn't my favorite of his stuff. (Although I loved it too.) So I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for having seen this movie, and then a lot more hate for liking it. So for the purposes of reviewing it properly, I'm going to assume that everyone loves Kevin Smith.

Clerks 2 was not the same movie as Clerks. If you expect it to be, then don't bother. I would even say that this movie has some serious flaws that a person should be prepared for. Mainly involving some dance scenes, for which the Xtina has zero patience.

This movie was more like the Jay and Silent Bob movie. With the expected cast of characters. Speaking of casting, what more could you ask for than Rosario Dawson? And a donkey. (Not together). So anyway, I'm averse to spoiling plots, so I'll avoid that. All I'm going to say is that the reviewers who will bash this movie in the coming weeks will either A) hate Kevin Smith movies (in which case they're "cinematic idiots and I feel sorry for them"), B) hate stupid comedies in general (in which case they're "cinematic idiots and I feel sorry for them."), or C) expected this movie to be the same as Clerks. There are indeed many similarities, but one can't expect this movie to be anything like Kevin Smith's first film. That was ten years ago on zero budget. This is after he's experienced relative success. This movie is respectful of the original and in the same vein, but it is not the same thing.

I laughed, I cheered, I hid my face in horror. Kevin Smith in nearly top form. (Top form here is defined as Mallrats or Chasing Amy)

oh, so did I! If she wants, she can be my myspace friend. But she shouldn't feel compelled. I don't really like or care about myspace.
