work went well all my first week. i really like this job.
last night, nathan and i went to see v for vendetta and it was pretty good. for a non-foreign, non-coming-of-age, non-holocaust, non-adrien brody movie. (nathan refused to watch the last netflix movie, and he lost out big-time; it was europa europa. he said he'd had enough of movies involving dead jews).
and the news i have kept quiet because i'm sure no one cares is that tonight i am going to a major concert that i have had tickets for since december: anti-flag, the casualties and the unseen, all together. i've been thinking those three should play together for a very long time, and i'm stoked that it's actually going to happen. i can't wait. i have only seen anti-flag once, and it was way back when i started this blog. at that time, i didn't know very many of their songs at all, and ever since, i've really gotten into them.
and anyone who's read this blog for very long knows that i never miss a show by the casualties or the unseen. just about this time last year, i saw the casualties for the first time at the big dropkick murphys st. patrick's day show in boston, and since then, i've seen the casualties twice more. and of course, i've seen the unseen more times than i can remember in the last year? two years? i've seen them at least 4 or 5 times. i can't wait. it should be fantastic. happy birthday to me.
i am kind of worried though; i think this size of a show should be held in a slightly bigger venue. it's the same place the unseen played at when we saw them last fall, and it was too crowded for the bands that played that night. this is going to be a much bigger show. i hope there isn't any trouble due to overcrowding. to be honest, i really didn't like the venue either. i really didn't know how lucky i was to have the norva in va.
i think i'll be sure to get there early. there are also going to be two other opening bands. i kind of wish they weren't going to be there, because this is going to be a late night. i wonder if the buses will even still be running.
i'm off to figure out how i'm going to get home from the show, and then get ready for my drum lesson.
