at the dogpark yesterday, there was a three-legged dog. nothing special, right? dog's lose legs all the time and can still be just as amazing athletes as they were previously. i know this. what i didn't know is that three-legged male dogs still lift a leg to pee. and it looks totally natural, like he's balancing on the leg that isn't there, when really, he's balancing on his front two legs. i don't know whether to call it weird, or awesome. both, i'm sure.
today i was rating movies on netflix (a pastime of mine. the only thing about me that might be labeled OCD). it occurred to me that i want to be able to do this with books. i mean, if i can be told about movies that i've never heard of, but would like based on my movie ratings, i should be able to do the same with books. i know amazon.com gives recommendations, but it's really limited compared to what netflix does. so i thought to myself, "self, there should be a netboox". that quickly turned to, "eureka! i'll start netboox and get rich!". that became, "i'd better check to see if there's already a netboox". so i looked it up, and lo and behold, there is blog entry after blog entry demanding that someone start netboox. now if only i had the capital and the 5 years to wait before turning a profit that netflix went through.
the part of me that's a decent human being says i should tell the local library about this demand for their service, so they can stop losing public funding and become widely used again.

Remember when a library card was the most awesome thing in the world? I need to get Dylan one. net books is a great idea but think of the shipping and storage. I have to say though that holding a book is much more saisfying than reading one online. it's great to take one out to the park on a sunny day or to curl up with one on a crap diddly astic day like today.
yeah, one of the blogs i found mentioned how shipping would kill any netboox operation. well, i say who needs a profit? i demand netboox!
