i haven't had mood swings, but it seems like the events that have followed me around today have.
i didn't do too much out of the ordinary. took max to the park, conferred with the realtor about inspection appointments and the like. later on in the day, i decided that since the sun was shining so brightly after having had rainy weather for a while, i should take my camera downtown and take some photos.
i was in a fantastic mood; the weather was gorgeous, and i think i got some really good shots, but i won't know until i develop the film. there i was, minding my own business, being my happy self, when i witnessed a horrible scene. i was at the waterfront park on the walking path, and in front of me were two guys walking two american bulldogs. another girl with a pit bull was walking towards us, and her dog started pulling toward the others, so she let him go up to them to sniff, and the typical dog face-off happened. you know, lunging, play snarling. it's bound to happen when you let evenly matched male dogs meet on leash. max does it so often that i warn people and apologize in advance that he's rude, but not vicious (even though he puts on a good vicious show). these three people obviously didn't have much dog experience since they let their dogs meet. letting three strange bully breeds meet is just stupid.
once the dogs did their growling bit, she pulled the pit bull away before any harm could come of it, but one of the guys started screaming at her "if he does it again, i'm telling you right now, i'll f-ing stab him in the throat! i'm not kidding, if he bites my dog again, i'll kill him! if he's going to be aggressive, you shouldn't have him" some guy on a park bench yelled that he needed to cool it, and the first guy started yelling at him too about how horrible it was for his dog to get bitten (i saw the whole thing happen, and if he got bitten, it was not a serious one. no blood or anything. max does worse when he's playing, and that's typical dog behavior). the girl tried to apologize really nicely and looked all shocked and hurt, but he just kept screaming at her.
it really made me hate people for a few miles until i came upon a few more nice things to take pictures of, and forgot all about it.
i think i'll go to the museum tomorrow and finish the roll of film i started today.
i got home and watched a horrible fox reality show and it killed my good mood and left me feeling pretty depressed, but i don't want to talk about it. now that the show's over i feel better.
i don't want cable in my next house. i'm perfectly happy watching the netflix that come in the mail, or renting other movies, but honestly, i wish i'd never gotten a dvr and i really am sick of watching the crap they put on tv.

I haven't watched network television for ages, save an occasional shot of Jeopardy. I watch cable because it's available, but I have cancelled it every time I've been responsible for paying for it. Even then, it's usually AMC or Comedy Central.
Shame your pleasant meanderings were nearly ruined by some uptight schmuck. Glad you were able to drop it before it bothered you and enjoy the rest of your time. You'll definitely have to share the pictures.
There any good views with Mt. Hood in the background? I can't remember...
Just as easily as the lady with the dog could have pulled the dog away, so could have the guys with Bull Dogs. The problem is jerks with nothing to spend their money on are willing to shell out some serious $$$ for some poor inbred pup. Since they spent a pretty penny on their dog they think they own the park. People just need to learn how to share, and understand dogs will do what dogs will do. Especially when two large male dogs are involved.
i hate tv. i'm cutting it off in the new house, unless nathan forbids it.
flint, yeah, i think i got some great far off shots of mt. hood. we'll see how they turned out. i'm developing them tonight, but i don't have a scanner anymore (refer to the cockroach incident: http://christinablog.blogspot.com/2005/07/sorry-for-delay.html#comments)
so i don't know when i'll get to post them. i'm sure i'll figure something out.
jorge, you're right. i thought that myself. if he can't control his dogs and know what situations to avoid, and how to avoid them effectively, he has no business in the park. i'm always nervous at the dog park that max will act like a dog and people won't understand. most people really just can't read dog behavior at all, which isn't their fault because they're people, but if you're going to own a dog, it's important that you learn that crap. there's an awesome video by turid rugaas about dog body language that's a must view for every new dog owner.
You can cancel the cable in the next house, it is a plague on humanity and I'm its leper.
yay! hooray for plagues, lepers, and cancelling cable!
Kill your television...seriously. You'll thank me later.
