work was a series of ups and downs this week. some days were great, and some days were not as good. nothing seriously bad, though. it sucks that i don't think this job is going to be long-term. i think they might not need me anymore after the six months is over, which is difficult for me because we're going to start looking for houses this weekend, and i'd like to be stable in my job before we commit to a mortgage.
there are a lot of nice neighborhoods for us to look in, and i'm kind of excited. my choices are:
-live in a 700 square foot house in a nice neighborhood that has everything you need within a few blocks, including a vibrant community
or
-live in 1200+ square feet in suburbia.
i'm leaning heavily toward nice community. i really miss the lifestyle we had in greece, and i've always wanted to have a neighborhood like the one our apartment in athens is in. well, like every neighborood/city/village is in greece. everything there was built before cars, so there are always bakeries, grocers, butchers, hardware stores, and everything you might want within 10 minutes of walking. i want that here. in greece, people are on the street doing their shopping and people all know each other, even in the middle of the city. you just know the people in your neighborhood. i want that here. i always have. i think i've been a city girl since i went to greece when i was 13. don't get me wrong, i like single family houses with backyards, but i think a compromise can be reached. i think people can live logically if they just plan things out well. unfortunately, almost this whole country has been planned horribly.

You know my vote is for the 700 sq ft-er.
Maybe somewhere in SE Portland...mmmm.
