i will probably be offered a job tomorrow at the company i've been temping for all week. this is both good and bad. for your reading pleasure, here is a list:
GOOD
pay $14 an hour
important job
opportunities to move up in the company or change jobs in the company
the company is solid and not going out of business any time soon
the cafeteria is awesome
i can use public transportation to get there
right by the water (nice views)
BAD
-pay is good, but not what i'm worth. i figure teacher's salary (if it were 12 months a year) would be $18 an hour. so really, i'm taking quite a pay cut.
-the job is very important and sounds serious and little mistakes can cost the company lots and lots of money
-today i spent 2 hours and 15 minutes travelling to and from work
-the hours will be from 6am to about 2:30 or 3:00pm. that's good and bad. i will have to wake up at 3:30 every day to make it to work on time. that means bed time at 7:30! and if i leave at 3 i won't be home until 4:30. 3 hours of chores before bed. it doesn't leave me with enough time to do anything.
-my job will involve helping irate customers

For a starting salary that is not that bad, if you like the job don't focus on the money just yet. Heck you can always fall back on teaching little devil children when you need more $$$, maybe those kids in the northwest are better behaved??? Oh, you forgot to mention how you would always have time off in summer if you went back to teaching!!!
