we left atlanta yesterday morning to head to kirsten's wedding. we woke up and left home in plenty of time to get to the wedding half an hour early, and that estimate included time to drop the dog off at his grooming appointment. luckily for me, about 10 miles after the start of I85, there was a huge construction-related jam up. it must have been made up of all the people leaving atlanta for the weekend, because it wasn't a problem last week when i went to the lake with kirsten. anyways, we were stuck in traffic long enough to cause us to miss the entire wedding, and make it to the reception as it was all being cleaned up. i was so upset to miss kirsten's wedding, but i guess i couldn't have done anything about it. my dad could have told me about the construction ahead of time if he knew, but i don't know if he did.
i'm glad that i at least made it to that much of the festivities, because i got to see kirsten in her dress, i got to see her brothers (who i haven't seen in so long, that the one i used to baby-sit is now a strapping teenager) and i got to see my old childhood friend Foy. i haven't seen her since i think before i left for washington. it was really good to see her again. we got to reminisce a little bit. i also got to see kirsten's parents again and meet her aunt that she's always talked about.
after that whole ordeal, we didn't have the energy to deal with nathan's uncle at the lake (we were planning to visit him there before we headed to mobile) so we just went to mobile, where we'll be until the 7th.
i think while we're here, we'll take nathan's little cousin hannah (the good one, the only one he's not actually related to by blood) rock climbing. i think she'll really love that. she's about twelve years old, and really really strong. her parents bought her a trapeze for the backyard, and she's got mad upper-body strength, plus she also plays kiddie soccer, so you know her legs have to be really strong too. i think she'll be a natural at it.

yeah, since i saw her again, i've been reliving old times a lot. i just spent lunch with nathan telling him all about her family and what kinds of things we used to do.
and i miss you too, kira!
no prob about missing the wedding - it got me wondering though - there were a lot of people who drove down from atlanta - they must have really overestimated the travel time in order to get there (marginally) on time. i doubt anyone would have known about the construction.
anyway, i'm just glad you stopped by the reception. yay!
