B-E-I-J-I-N-G

tonight i got to see 4 bands for 8 dollars (plus service charge: $2). the first band was an ok local band. the second band was the greatest thing i've seen in a while. they were from beijing. that's right, the one in china. i bet you didn't know the term "punk rock" had 3 syllables. they were so funny. once they shouted oi in their first song, the kids on the floor went nuts. if you scroll down a bit, you'll see their album cover, and in the bottom left corner is the lead guitarist's autograph. it's not chinese, and i don't think it's engrish, but it's cool to have. i'm so excited. there will be no sleeping tonight.
the third band, ramallah, was more metal than i can appreciate.
last was the unseen, who put on a fantastic show. the only thing i didn't like (i disliked enough to say hate) was the two covers they did: every rose has it's thorn (i feigned puking in the garbage can) and beat it, by michael jackson. that one was actually kind of fun, because they made it super punk, and then the black kid in the black flag shirt started break dancing. the guys in the band thought that was awesome...and it was. i see that kid at every show. he's my hero. anyways, you should all go get the brain failure cd that is pictured below. my favorite song so far is "coming down to beijing".

You didn't throw up, and just for that on my way to work today I'm going to stop by and piss on your door handles.

How do you find these bands? We get all the top 40 crap forced down our throats here, and did I ever tell you there are no decent radio stations in my neck of the woods.

aside from my friends, the music scene here is the only thing i'll miss about this place. so many bands come to the norva, and the punk show plays every sunday night. i doubt i'll ever be so lucky again. but at least the punk show published it's playlists online most weeks, so i can always find new music.
