i'm old

i got contacts today at my eyedoctor appointment. it has been almost ten years since the last time i had contacts. i'm old. i also got new glasses. i'm not sure i really like them. the best shaped pair that they had came in a color i didn't like, but it didn't come in a better color, so i settled. i know i should never settle for something i don't like when it has to live on my face, but it really was the best pair. and i've got contacts now too, so i might not be spending too much time in glasses in the future.
after that, i stripped the wallpaper out of the half bath. tomorrow, i might paint it. i've gotten so much done since i haven't been working. not as much as i wanted to, because i end up hanging out with friends more than i anticipated, but i don't have much guilt over that, because after may, i won't get to see my virginia friends much anymore. i've said it before, but when i left college, i didn't realize how much i'd miss my friends and how long it would be before i saw most of them again. now i'm afraid that's going to happen again, and since i know how bad it sucks, i've got a lot of angst associated with leaving crapapeake.
virginia is for suckers, by the way.
chance suggested that since they're calling up the reserves, now would be a perfect time for nathan to re-enlist. haha. that prospect is laughable. i can't wait to be married to a civilian. plus, even if he did re-enlist, it would work out extra-crappy for us because the boat is going to charleston soon. talk about going from the frying pan into the fire. that would be more like going from the 4th circle of hell to at least the sixth. the only reason i don't say seventh, is because (back me up on this one, christina) i'm glad i don't live in kathmandu. did i ever mention that my dad considered moving us to cairo (the one in egypt) when i was about 16? it's funny that i can say i dodged that bullet, when i still had to finish out high school in montgomery, al.
boy, i sure can ramble. goodnight.

cancel that, i was wrong. it's going to king's bay, and i don't know why. that's worse than charleston, though.
