on monday night, nathan and i went to go see lars frederiksen and roger miret. it was a fantastic time. however, the audience sucked. they kept getting injured, or getting into fights with bouncers and lars kept having to stop and tell the audience to be considerate of one another. the funniest part was when he admonished this girl for crowd surfing in a mini-skirt and called the guys a bunch of meatheads and told them to either leave her alone, get out, or go jerk off in the bathroom.
i remember seeing these girls crowd surfing and thinking to myself, "that looks like so much fun, i wish i had the guts to do it, but i don't want to get felt up by a million strangers or get dropped on my head". then i thought "but those girls are up there, and they seem alright. they're not getting hurt". then after the song, lars gave the guys his speech.
also, two of the bands insulted sports and jocks, so it was christina heaven. i'm all about punks who berate team sports.
i didn't know lars was going to be so cool, but he really seemed like a good guy. and roger miret put on a good show.
this one girl broke her nose. i saw some kind of commotion, so i started watching the crowd, and then the band stopped playing and everyone watched until we saw some bouncer heft this limp girl over his shoulder and carry her out. later on she came back and her friends let him know what happened to her.
the kids at school have been alright lately. we've been learning about haikus this week, so i brought in some photos today as inspiration for their own work. one of the photos was the one on kirsten's blog of shaun and the giraffe. i'll post the good haikus when they're done. i called kirsten up in the middle of my first lesson to ask her where she took that photo because the kids wanted to know. it was funny. then i got them all to say hi to her. they weren't such horrible little rat bastards today. and by that, i mean i only screamed in frustration 10 times or fewer today.
