ready for another bitch-rant?

i had the worst day today. i don't know what my problem is. lots of things could have gone wrong that didn't, and a lot of things went really well, but a few things just ruined my day.

good things: atira spent her second day of suspension out of my class. nathan cooked me dinner. the weather is still not too cold. i found out my renters took the wallpaper and the cheesy frosted glass out for me.

the bad stuff:
-tashara will probably get a zoning waiver and stay in my classroom
-i had to give a stupid test to my kids all morning. this was actually good and bad
-i didn't get to have my planning period today. instead, i got to keep my students in my classroom. that means i got no break today
-i was given teacher detention (training seminar)
- my ipod locked up on me again on my walk. pos.
-the thing that pissed me off the most today needs a long explanation. so here goes:
i don't keep a broom in my classroom. the reason for this is that kids use it to hit each other. so after i gave away the classroom's broom, the janitor pitched a fit and told the principal that my room was too dirty for him to clean. so they both came in and bitched out my kids for being too messy. since then, i have made a strong effort to make my kids clean the room every day before they leave. then, last week, the principal bitched out the whole faculty because some classrooms are dirty. she told us that if someone on our grade level has a dirty room, they should tell them to clean it up. that day, two people told me to clean my room. and they told me that if my kids don't clean when i tell them to, i have to pick up that slack. so since then, i've instated "room clean-up time" five or six times a day. basically at the end of every class period. then today after class was over, i had the kids that were still there clean the floors. they were all (six of them) picking up paper balls and things off the floor, and i was helping. a teacher walked by and told me to get my kids to clean the room. so i walked across the hall and borrowed a broom. marvin volunteered to sweep, so i let him. five minutes go by, the kids get called to leave my room for the day, and there's still crap everywhere. i scream at marvin and tell him he sucks and he's fired (not in those words) and end my day by sweeping the room myself (before i was told i had to go to teacher detention).
my problem is this: i don't think it's my job to clean the floor in my classroom. i don't mind helping out, or having my kids pick up around their desks, but i don't think we should have to sweep. what is a janitor for besides sweeping floors? then, as i was sweeping, i started getting really angry. i started thinking about the way the bathrooms always smell like old piss, or how there's never any soap or toilet paper, even in the teachers' bathrooms. the kids aren't allowed toilet paper in stalls because they make a mess that the janitors are too good to clean up. i have to ration it out to them at bathroom breaks. that means that if a boy has to go number two, he has to tell me about it, and the whole class has to know. or, he can not use toilet paper. to me, that's child abuse. the janitors should just do their job and keep the school clean. i don't care that the kids are monsters. i have to deal with their crap, the janitors should have to as well. i have kids who tell me that their mom asked if they can have special permission to use the bathroom in the first grade hall, because our bathrooms smell to bad for them to want to go in. i have students who don't use the bathroom unless it's an emergency, and i have a feeling that it's because it stinks too bad. i don't even want to go in there. the only reason i go in is if they get in a fight while they're in there.
i hate our janitors. i think i'll write a long letter to the superintendant, the governor and the press when i leave.

mainly because i don't want to get fired, and doing something like that would get me fired straightaway. and i've got debt to pay off.
