nathan has this crusade and his goal is to end ignorance. it's a lofty goal, but he has split it up into tasks that he believes he can manage. one of the tasks is to correct people when they cite faulty statistics or data. for instance, if you say that your chances of doing something are one in a million, from now on he's going to ask you for your support research and how you arrived at that figure.
i realize that i've always had crusades that are kind of like that. but i don't consider them crusades, i just view them as me being mouthy.
one of my crusades has always been against racism. i've calmed down about that because of a few friends that have shown me that it's stupid to get your blood pressure up because you're trying to be pc. (you know who you are). but i still thought that i would use this blog every now and again to report on racism that i encounter in my life. it's bound to happen more and more now that i'm in the south again.
here's my first story (but not my first ever encounter with the "r" word):
during my freshman year of college, i had a friend named Octave. you might have guessed, and you'd be right, that octave was black. well, one day, octave needed a ride to the grocery store, and asked me to take him. i needed to go too, so i took him. we shopped for a while, and then at the checkout line, i went first, and then he went. our cashier was also black, and as he put all his groceries up on the counter (which consisted of microwavable meals since we lived in dorms) she looked at what he bought, and then looked at him and said "is that how she feed you?"
like he was dating me and because i was white, i couldn't take better care of my man. i suppose she and her 3 inch long fingernails could have done a better job.
the masses are asses.
henry rollins thinks that we will overcome racism in our lifetimes. i'd like to agree with him and he is a pretty smart guy, but i can't help but feel a bit skeptical. after all, hank has never lived in alabama, as far as i know.
do you guys agree with him? why or why not?

I have data that shows that 9/10 people think that you should have told the Biff about your blog. And that he shouldn't have had to find out about it via his blog hit statistics.
I hear Nate's crusade. Reminds me of our crusade against homosexual terms used in a derogatory manner. I think he still owes me 69 beers....or that's what my research shows.

Oh yeah, forgot to answer....
No way, people are savages. Plain and simple. The way our society is setup now, we'll never see the end to racism/discrimination.
The only way I see it ever disolving is when we run out of oil and start dying off in the billions. Then maybe we'll put aside petty shit like racism. Until there's a great e_ualizer like that, nothing is going to level the playing field enough to make people see that for the most part we're all the same.
Man, I'm gunna go run off to a hippy commune now.

happy happy birthday a day or two late, depending on what time zone you're working with!!!!
ps: thanks for the plug for my own blog - it's new so i need lots of people to read and comment (hint hint) so that i look cool and popular and people i've never met will like me. there's lots of funny stories and nudity.
oops, sorry forgot to say who i was. for the record it's kirsten, and for the record, no, there will be no end to racism, not even outside the south. people may change their targets, but not their nature.
Yeah, happy bday. I forgot that your bday is only days away from mine.
Shaved nekkid kitties!
