navy sucks

i thought i'd add a link to the "i hate the uss florida website". many of you have already seen it, but for those who haven't, i'd like you to know that this girl is my hero. she and her husband got in big trouble because she made this website, and i didn't find out about it until after she got in trouble. she has some bitterness about none of the other wives supporting her, but i would have if i had known what she was up to at the time. if you can overlook the grammatical errors and the bad language (she's a sailor's wife, for pete's sake, and angry. cut her a break.) it'll let you know what kind of sentiment is out there. just so you guys don't think that nathan and i are some sort of diggits just because he joined the service (when he was 19, i might add. did any of you not do anything stupid when you were 19? go ahead, cast the first stone...)

I hope you hate the army as well. Because in comparison.....they're both in the military, which is really the thing to hate.

I like my hate mail to make sense. If you're not a coward, you'll make a lucid comment so I have something to respond to. However, I bet since you commented on a post that's more than three years old, you were hoping I didn't have email notifications to tell me I had a comment. Pretty brave.

Christina, I have no idea when you'll see this, but this is Danielle McKay, the ex-Navy wife you defended. My husband Andrew and I were just talking about this incident tonight, and wondered if anything on the web mentioned it, even though it was years later. I was so surprised to stumble upon your blog, and so heartened. I wish I had seen this sooner. I appreciate your support and encouragement more than you will ever know. Thank you! If you want to write sometime, my email is danny279_2000 at yahoo.com.

I was on the USS Florida through this entire ordeal. This wasn't just a case of some 'unhappy' person looking for the most convenient thing to blame it on... It really was that bad. I was horrible the way many people were treated. BTW, in case no one knows, the husband went to Captains Mast and was punished (having to spend 3 months onboard without being able to leave the ship) because of his wife expressing HER OWN first amendment right to a freedom of speech. But they aren't the only ones with a bad story... they are the only ones to tell thiers. Believe it. We all have many a story to tell about it, and it's not pretty. The crew was treated as garbage.

Thanks for the comment. It's been heartening to see how this post still attracts people so many years later. We all knew it sucked, and thank God we're all out now.
